The celebration of the music of Canadian composer Malcolm Forsyth is given over to three of his most vivid scores, which demonstrate his resourcefulness as a weaver of distinctive orchestral fabrics. With Electra Rising, Malcolm Forsyth fulfilled a long-held ambition – to write a concerto for his daughter,  Amanda. Forsyth has been able to say, with aplomb and some pride; “Electra Rising is Amanda. Amanda is Electra Rising – the work fits her like a glove”.

The other concerto united two colleagues of the University of Alberta’s Department of Music – its Composer in Residence Malcolm Forsyth, and saxophone professor and virtuoso William Street.
